Everything is as it should be in Washington

4 Nov

“Washington is broken!” How long has that phrase been around? It’s a phrase that’s been uttered by activists of all stripes and colors. Well here’s an idea to consider:

Washington isn’t broken. Washington is working just as it is intended to work. The reason you think it’s broken is because you’re operating under the delusion that Washington is supposed to be working for you. It’s not and it doesn’t

Scientists learn about the world around them by making observations. Make an observation of Washington. Ask yourself “Who benefits from the status quo?” Therein lies who Washington serves. You’ll find, for them, Washington is working beautifully.

Someone always benefits from the status quo. Find out who benefits and you find out where the power really lies. (Hint: It’s not with the people)

“If you want to know why something is the way it is, find out who is making money from it being that way.”

I first heard that from Robert (Baretta) Blake on the Tonight Show, when Johnny Carson had it. I don’t know if it was original with Blake, but it’s as true now as it was then.

Ya baby,…My family has worked in the White House and the Pentagon and many other offices for almost 100 years. This was the saying within the ranks of workers who noticed it was rigged from the top.”Follow the money.”
Nice to hear from you again,..thought we’d lost ya.

Not at all, Matt. I’ve been focusing on other projects. For one thing, after not being able to play or sing for over 20 years, I tried taking up the guitar again. I’m happy t say I am doing much better than I expected. I’ll probably never be where I was, but I’m having fun and am entertaining at family gatherings and for different groups.

In addition, I have been asked to resume working part time training some people in self-defense and some other things. It pays poorly, but again, I enjoy it so why not?

So we need a new type of politician, one that either a. does not care about who profits from something as long as it is in the greater good of society (which has its own problems) or b. does not care about who profits from something as long as it is in their own interest (which is what we are seeing currently to an extent).

The system is broken to an extent, in that who is making money from it is not the point of government. The point is to see actual care and greatness achieved for the nation rather than for select individuals. Change, real change, is coming to politics.

When you stop trying, when you stop worrying about it, people will come to you. I promise
